Physical Therapy Faculty Member Receives University of Illinois at Chicago Alumni Achievement Award

Kathryn E Roach, PT, Ph.D. accepts Chicago Alumni Achievement Award.

Kathryn E. Roach, P.T., Ph.D., vice chair for research and interim vice chair for Ph.D. studies for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Department of Physical Therapy, received the 2019 University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Alumni Achievement Award at the Alumni Awards Celebration on UIC’s campus.

UIC Chancellor Michael Amiridis presented her with the award, which is the highest honor bestowed upon alumni by the University of Illinois at Chicago Alumni Association. It is only given to alumni who have attained national or international distinction in their chosen profession or life’s work.

This is the second time Dr. Roach has been honored with the Outstanding Alumni Award; the first being in 2002. She was also awarded the APTA Eugene Michel’s New Investigator Award in 1996 and the APTA Chattanooga Research Award in 2012.

Dr. Roach has 16 years of clinical experience in settings including acute care, in-patient rehabilitation, out-patient orthopedics rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and home health care. Her primary clinical focus is in geriatric physical therapy.
