Miller School Ranked among the Top 50 Medical Schools by U.S. News & World Report
The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine has been ranked among the top 50 medical schools nationally by U.S. News & World Report in the 2019 edition of “Best Graduate Schools.” In that compilation, the Miller School is ranked No. 50 among 123 schools reporting.

“We are proud to be ranked one of the top 50 U.S. medical schools,” said Edward Abraham, M.D., executive vice president for health affairs, CEO of UHealth, and dean and chief academic officer of the Miller School. “It demonstrates the consistent quality of our leadership in medical education, biomedical research, clinical care and community service.”
The physical therapy program at the Miller School was again ranked No. 10 in the nation. The program has consistently ranked in the top 10 since U.S. News began ranking physical therapy programs in 1995.
The Miller School research mission also received a high ranking recently, based on grants received from the National Institutes of Health during the 2017 federal fiscal year.
According to data compiled by the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, the Miller School ranked No. 41 among 141 institutions nationally, with its NIH grant total increasing by $9.5 million, or 8.5 percent, to $120.7 million. That figure is $19 million higher than the next Florida medical school on the list, and retains the Miller School’s status as the highest-ranked medical school in the state.
The U.S. News “Best Graduate Schools” rankings are based on a weighted average of eight indicators, including peer assessment of quality, research activity through NIH grants, student selectivity, and faculty resources.
