In the past six months, he was the Honor Health Lillian R. and James M. Reed Visiting Scholar in Scottsdale, Arizona, and co-director of the Perioperative Summit in Orlando, Florida. He gave multiple presentations on various perioperative medicine topics at meetings held by the Society of Hospital Medicine, the American College of Physicians and the International Anesthesiology Research Society. Dr. Cohn also gave lectures about anticoagulation in Dallas and Las Vegas, and he has been invited to speak again at the Perioperative Summit and national meetings of the American College of Physicians and the Society of Hospital Medicine next year.

His chapter on preoperative medical consultation was just published in the new edition of Cecil/Goldman’s Textbook of Medicine, as was his Update in Perioperative Cardiovascular Medicine in the October issue of the Cleveland Clinic Journal of Medicine. In addition, McGraw-Hill, partnering with the American College of Physicians, has invited him to author/edit a new book on perioperative medicine to be published late next year.

“So much for easing into retirement!” Dr. Cohn said.
