Dr. Jordan Colson Joins the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Jordan Colson, M.D. has joined the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine as a clinical assistant professor.

“Dr. Colson will enrich our program in laboratory medicine,” said Merce Jorda, M.D., Ph.D., M.B.A, chair of the department. “He offers the latest knowledge in microbiology and laboratory stewardship.”

Dr. Colson received his M.D. degree and performed his residency in AP/CP at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Truman Medical Center. He served as chief resident in his last year before moving onto a fellowship in clinical microbiology at the Cleveland Clinic (Ohio). He is boarded in medical microbiology as well as anatomic and clinical pathology.

While completing his training, Dr. Colson collaborated on an animal model of fat embolism and conducted a study implementing an algorithmic approach to practice improvements in specialized microbiology test ordering. He also instructed pathology residents, medical students, and infectious disease fellows.

Dr. Jorda added, “Dr. Colson will not only have a significant impact on patient care, he will also enhance our training program in clinical pathology. We are all looking forward to working with him.”
