Donut Dash and Team UM Events Thank Medical Campus Employees and Support United Way

The line at the south end of the Calder Breezeway stretched from here to … well, you get the idea. At the Donut Dash, a faculty and staff appreciation event held on the medical campus on November 1, The Salty Donut gave away 1,000 donuts at the rate of one per person (ID required), so the turnout was at least 1,000 employees.

The line was so long, The Salty Donut gave away all 1,000 donuts.

Joining Human Resources for the afternoon of fun was Team UM – United Way, which held a variety of activities to raise money for good causes. Its offerings — each costing a $2 cash donation — included a raffle of footballs signed by Miami Dolphins players Devante Parker and Xavien Howard, a photo booth with Dolphins cheerleaders, Sebastian the Ibis and Hurricanes and Dolphins alum Vernon Carey, a gourmet coffee stand, and a balloon prize pop for UM and UHealth giveaways. All vendors and partners provided their products and services free of charge to help support the United Way. In all, Team UM – United Way raised $678.

Even if you missed the afternoon events, you can still support University of Miami’s United Way Campaign. Any donation goes toward the United Way’s mission of education, financial resiliency and health. A gift can also go to a local non-profit organization. You can make your gift easily by logging into Workday and clicking on the “GIVE” icon.
